Why not actually go to a florist and ask for advice. Say what you want, and a sample from the flowers that you see what works and what you want. This should not exceed 15 or 20 minutes, really. I think it would be fun, actually. After they were able to buy some flowers to take with you, as thanks for their time and expertise. In this way you will have a few fresh flowers in your house, you need some knowledge about what to do, is paid for the flower shop for their advice, and everyone is happy.
